ROCK N ROLL IS KING

On Wednesday I found a shop I have been waiting to find. It's in a building opposite Funan and in a small row in the basement. They sell record players, some second-hand, some fixed from scrap pieces, and records, some second-hand. A record player costs $90, but with the speakers and amplifiers it will be about 400. A record there costs between $10 to $30, which is the price range of most cds and worth so much more. I will really start saving for real so that when I buy it, it will be for real, and worth every single penny I save. The needle that plays the records will be glorious. This is the first time in my life I will save up to buy something I really want.

In the trailer for seoul far so good a few weeks ago a korean dj said that they were in 'the largest shopping mall in the universe!' but how would he know. The earth CAN'T be the only place in the universe with life. Right at this moment (whatever moment means in the fabric of space-time), there is probably someone or something, billions of light years away at the other end of the milky way or in some other galaxy, scratching his or her or its body or typing away too, or fornicating. It makes me feel incredibly itchy and titchy. Can the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy be real?!?!?!?!!!!

After years of postponement, the feeling is here! We are going to majorly move in 2 and a half weeks. I've lived here since I was born, in every single bedroom. They have been telling me to pack for 6 months, and I'll start this Sunday because Sundays are just the best days for packing anything while blasting music. I was lying on my mother's bed and I just realised for real that the house will be gone in a few weeks. When I was a baby, I slept in my parents' room (furniture unchanged since they got married 20 years ago) and when my brother was born a year after me, 4 of us slept in there while my grandparents slept in their huge grande room and my uncle (father's younger brother) slept in his grey room (now mine) and my aunties (father's 2 younger cranky lazy couch potato sisters) slept in their orangey 80s cosy room with their piano. After all of them got married and moved out, my uncle's room became the playroom with our gross dirty flowery sofa where we jumped on and work tables and my brother and i slept in my aunties' room though in the middle of the night we'd go to our parents' room. Then, I got the playroom and he got our bedroom, and I'd alternate between sleeping in my parents' room and grandparents' room, on a mattress. I still don't dare to sleep alone. Oh!!!!!!!! Before we start packing I'll film the house to 'me and julio down by the schoolyard' so we'll never forget it. I'll miss the toilet. The toilet I use which is my grandmother's toilet. It's dark beige and ugly. The countless times I've sat there leaving the water on staring into space and daydreaming before starting to feel guilty about wasting water. And the pathetic bubble baths I've tried to take there, and all the nice soap I've used there. A toilet is a sacred place to be remembered. I'll miss my room the most, though I don't sleep here and most of the time when I'm in it I feel bored though it is a playground. The poor ants who will be left to be killed by the construction workers when they come to smash the house down. I used to hate you, now I'll miss ever dirty little stinking one of you. And the wall I haven't really looked at in years, with all the glow in the dark planets and ghosts and stars will be destroyed. And the gloriously disgusting dried-blood-red and blood-red carpet with billions of mites and my nail clippings will be torn apart too, thank god i suppose is what i'm supposed to say. And all the old orange-red-ness marble-ness of the house will be gone, to be replaced (when the new house is built) with a clean modern glow!

Bad Ode to my house:
We bathed naked in the washing area
We hung lanterns in the garden
We played hide and seek in the balcony
and had sizzling night barbeques
We woke up early to eat peanut butter toast
And sit around in our pajamas
We watched dumb and dumber and richie rich
and they played catching in the dark
She got her wedding makeup done here (I was the flower-girl)
And he had his funeral in the garden
I stay up late in my crazy room daydreaming
and sit in the toilet awake when the rest of the house is asleep
The end
